Fishing Report: July 10, 2007
Welcome to our visitors for the Merritt Mountain Music Festival. While you are here, please take the opportunity to explore our great Trout Fishery. We are known as the “Country Music Capital of Canada” but many people from around the world think of us as “The Rainbow Trout Capital of Canada”. There are over Two Hundred Lakes within an hours drive of town. It is impossible to fish a different lake every day of the fishing season before they freeze up for the winter. These lakes come in all different sizes and the fishing can be as varied as the lakes themselves. Anglers can fish the low elevation lakes for Rainbows that can grow to twenty pounds or fish the high elevation lakes that stay cool and productive all season long. Wade the Nicola or Coldwater Rivers and fish the resident Trout or watch the Salmon go through their spawning ritual. Steelhead and Salmon fishing is open later on in the season on the Thompson River. Now some of the lakes reporting are; |
