Western art at the Courthouse Gallery - Artists of the Kamloops Cowboy Festival
Organizers at the Courthouse Art Gallery are very excited to present some of Canada’s best western artists, right here in Merritt, during the month of July.

Five artists whose work has been selected over the years for posters for the Kamloops Cowboy Festival, are now showing — John Schnurrenberger, Arnold Mosley, Anita Klein, Ginny Green-Carr, and Rob Dinwoodie. And, the watercolour by the late John Taylor that has been selected for the 2007 KCF poster is also on display.

The Kamloops Cowboy Festival has been attracting the best western artists & artisans in the country for the past decade — and some of the best of those have their work here at the gallery. Much of the work is available for purchase, but this exhibit is a must-see whether you’re in western art-buying mode or not!

And you can meet the artists on Friday, July 14th, from 12noon-3pm. Now it’s not a fancy affair, but if you want, wear your best western gear — western artists are probably the most down-to-earth folks in the art world today. And if you’re in the cowboy biz, you may even recognize some of the people in the paintings.

This week, the gallery has extended hours during music fest: Thursday through Sunday, 10am-4pm. And then for the rest of the month, regular hours are Friday & Saturday, 10am-4pm
